Roundup or Real Maple Syrup?

Every fall in the north maple trees are tapped for their sap and then it is cooked to reduce the water content and increase the sweetness. Too bad almost all “maple” syrups on the market today are made from GMO corn. Just in case, you needed a little more Roundup in your diet, they are almost entirely corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup. Their focus is on margins and not wellness, fair enough.

Aunt Jemima, Mrs. Butterworth’s, Hungry Jack, and almost all store brands, are full of corn and mostly artificial colors and flavors. There is nothing close to maple syrup in them though that is how it started out over 120 years ago. I will point out that Log Cabin has now ousted the High Fructose Corn Syrup for likely GMO sugar. Note that Pinnacle Foods owns Log Cabin as well as Aunt Jemima and Hungry Man.

Lots of folks avoid real maple syrup due to increased costs, and many of the smaller bottles of it are many times more than the stuff mentioned above. The great news is that places like Costco carry offerings such as Kirkland’s organic grade A maple syrup in a one liter jug that is considerably less than at any other store.

Also, in addition to its amazing flavor, organic maple syrup delivers a high amount of manganese per serving as well as Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Potassium, Zinc, and Copper. A natural and very sustainable sweetener, organic maple syrups flavor is amazing and whether atop breakfast items or in your favorite recipe the flavor and richness are sure to please.

Learn more about maple syrup and other sweeteners that support wellness in the book Nutritional Truths. Feel free to share this, enjoy your weekend and Be Well!

Study finds Glyphosate (Roundup) in 85% of feminine products!

In the attempt to avoid exposure to toxins one only need to be aware of all they are taking in through food and beverage as well as whatever is placed on their skin. Many folks remove all the toxins from their homes by replacing soaps, shampoos, deodorants, and now something new to consider.

Whether one uses pads, tampons or both be aware that if it is not organic it likely contains glyphosate. You know Roundup as that spray that kills all growing things but does it bother you to know now how you may be exposing yourself to it? Easy to avoid by using only organic products.

The demise of the honey bee and monarch butterfly are tied directly to glyphosate being used so abundantly throughout the US, 2.6 billion pounds of it last year alone. Cotton is now one of those almost all GMO crops which means like the soy and corn it is sprayed heavily with a known carcinogen in the state of California, Glyphosate. And since it is systemic there is no rinsing it off of one’s produce.

The study came out of the National University of La Plata since there are no universities in the US who would ever test for such things since they are all influenced by Monsanto and big pharma. In addition to the pads and tampons, it was also found in cotton swabs and gauze. All of these items may be purchased as organic and Roundup free at healthful grocery stores.

You have a right to know what you are exposing all of your body to. There is also great concern that when we consume these chemicals it kills off beneficial bacteria in the gut. For a puppy update, we are learning more and more and so is she. Paisley, the puppy, is our new focus, and she will not have access to anything with glyphosate in it. Share as you wish and be well!

Holistic Wellness often requires Patience

Holistic Medicine is considered by many to be hokey or new-age, feel-good, hogwash. I was this way once. If facts are an important thing to folks may they realize that what they are blowing off is Original effective medicine. Found today under the terms Holistic Medicine, Homeopathy, Folk Medicine, Unconventional Medicine, and Unorthodox Medicine it allows the body to heal itself as it was intended to do, once given the opportunity.

The schlock the doc throws at you from his buddies at GSK or Merck is almost always toxic. Over a hundred thousand people in the US die from those forms of modern medicine they embrace. Properly prescribed and taken dead is a possible side effect, but they keep thinking they need a pill for it.

Outside of trauma care, much of today’s allopathic medicine is only about profit. From the physician and their buddy in the pharmacy comes concoctions that often only suppress symptoms and again, just may kill you. Many times a shift in behaviors and what one consumes will fix what ails you, and no waiting room!

With holistic solutions, we have to wait often for wellness since it takes time for the body to make use of what it is given and then symptoms go for good. We have gotten used to taking a pill to knock out a symptom. Patience comes in very handy when allowing the body to handle healing itself.

For thousands of years, Native Americans, as well as natives from Mexico and Africa, have used living clay to bring about wellness. Mineral-rich clay promotes healing and like Redmond Clay since it holds a negative electrical charge it will draw to it positively charged toxins and carry them out of the body. Yes, the clay can be used internally and externally.

If this is all brand new to you, investigate it further, and folks also consume Diatomaceous Earth for many reasons including silica and minerals as well as taking out parasites. So many old-school, inexpensive and effective solutions all around us that have worked so much longer than we have been alive or will live.

Feel free to share this. Puppy update: We have had Paisley almost a week and crate training is an adventure but an effective one. Have a wonderful first weekend of Fall and Be well!

Everyone who does this will go into a drawing next week, and I will announce the winners next Thursday the 17th!

One of the most educational experiences I have had in some time is learning to market a book. After I became clear how almost all disease was an option and not our genetic fate I began writing Nutritional Truths. Time and again I hear folks talk about older relatives and disease as if genetics is why they are sick. Of course this is most often not true at all.

Almost always it is a result of repeated behaviors that supports and will often replicate illness. From food, beverages, thoughts, and behaviors to one’s perception of the world is either adding to one’s wellness or illness. As Dr. Wigmore used to say ” The food you eat can either be the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison.”

All ten chapters can be read to you by me for free! Help me get the word out about Nutritional Truths as well as my blog at In my blog, I cover topics that will support your efforts in knowing the truths about certain things that may impact you and your families wellness. If you ever have an idea for a blog or would like to suggest topics, please let me know.

The book covers foods, beverages and their ingredients that serve us well and those that support disease and death. Attitudes, behaviors and habits that support illness and those that support wellness. Learn the truth about environmental toxins we often expose ourselves to as well as truths about dentistry and its impact on one’s health.

Be introduced to medical pioneers and their effective solutions to disease over the past 100 years. Inspire yourself with stories from those who have faced a diagnosis and use alternative care to bring about wellness. Folks read or listen to Nutritional Truths for many different reasons. Like and share this now on Facebook on or before September 17th for your chance to win! Thanks and be well!

Being on the Rebound Increases Fluidity

Most of my life I was oblivious to the work of and overall life supporting purpose of the lymphatic system. Its main function is to transport lymph, a clear fluid containing white blood cells that supports the body in ridding itself of toxins, waste and other undesirable matter. It consists of lymph nodes, vessels and lymph. Your spleen, tonsils, adenoids, and thymus are all part of this system. We have twice as much lymph fluid as we do blood.

As bacteria are identified in the lymph, the lymph nodes make extra white blood cells, which can cause swelling. If you have ever felt kind of sickish and felt the nodes in your neck to be swollen, that’s what is taking place. Lymph does not flow and circulate through the body as blood does; it has its own system and goes in only one direction, towards our neck.

Since the network of the lymphatic system does not have muscles and it flows in only one direction, the only way to actually move the fluid is through massage or movement. Many massage therapists offer lymphatic massage and you can easily do it yourself at home. It only requires a very light touch as most of the system is right under the surface of the skin.

The best way to move lymph fluid throughout the body so it may bathe every cell in nutrients and take all the waste away is to use a rebounder or small therapeutic trampoline. The lymph is completely dependent on physical exercise to move and since the network of vessels run up the legs, torso, and arms, the vertical up and down motion of rebounding is most effective at making the lymph flow effectively!

The movement created by jumping on a rebounder stimulates the system, allowing the lymph to flow freely to support the removal of toxins and dead or cancerous cells, heavy metals, infectious viruses, and all the other waste cast off by our cells. It can be more effective an exercise than cycling, running or jogging with much less impact and opportunity for injury. It also works more body muscles and your core, and maintains balance while jumping. NASA found it more effective and health affirming than running on a treadmill.

There are a dozen or more different rebounder manufacturers and you get what you pay for. The top of the line rebounders use bungee cords and make no noise when in use, whereas some of the spring ones do make a bit of noise, some much more than others. There are several reviews of various rebounders online. Will be completing the audio version of Nutritional Truths in the studio next week and appreciate you being here and sharing. Be well!

Is your Salt actually worth its Salt?

From way back when salt has been an important part of many cultures and human health. The Egyptians used it to cure meat and fish and the Chinese counted on it as a means of state revenue. Why it was even a means of payment of wages for soldiers long ago and began the term “worth his salt”. Today it is generously added to all processed foods including lunch meats, soups, bread, and dressings.

For many of us salt comes in one particular container and can easily be found in almost every restaurant and kitchen across America. Too bad the salt I am describing has been stripped of all of its minerals we require and has gone through a 1200 degree heating process. Often bleached and processed with aluminum and ferrocyanide, it no longer resembles real salt but has become a Frankensalt.

Many are concerned they will miss out on iodine if not in their salt but the iodine in the salt is actually synthetic and along with the anti-caking agents can easily prevent our bodies from even absorbing it. Iodine is naturally found in baked potatoes, boiled eggs, strawberries, sea veggies, yogurt, shellfish, fish and there are also supplements.

Kosher salt is the exact same but blessed and in larger flakes. Today’s sea salt has often times been through the same process as table salt but not ground down into as fine of pieces and along with the toxins in today’s seas as well as unknown contamination, keeps me from ever suggesting it. Ancient seas located far underground from Pakistan and Utah offer the cleanest best tasting and mineralized salt available today. Himalayan sea salt is pink and full of minerals as is the whiter Real Salt that comes from Utah.

Consumption of salt is something to keep a check on but even much more important is to know that processed and restaurant foods, and fast food places use as much as they can and it is of the lowest quality. When cooking at home consider using a real salt, as nature intended, that works to mineralize and nourish your body. Our bodies are mostly salt water, you deserve to have it filled with the very best possible. Learn more in my book Nutritional Truths available on Amazon and very soon on Kindle.

Cha cha cha changes…

Sometimes when the right thing happens it almost doesn’t seem real. The folks at Pepsi-co, this week announced the departure of aspartame from their diet Pepsi products in the US. Seth Kaufman, vice-president of Pepsi, said: “Aspartame is the number one reason consumers are dropping diet soda.” and well they should I say! Aspartame has the most complaints of a product/ingredient ever at the FDA.

And unlike most situations when it comes to food manufacturers and America, this time the British are getting the raw deal with Pepsi-co keeping aspartame in their UK version of diet Pepsi. Normally the cheap and most offending ingredients are left in the US versions only. This is one in a growing list of small shifts, food manufacturers are beginning to take.

Chipotle Grill just yesterday announced all of their offerings are now GMO-free. Nestle recently announced their decision to remove all artificial colors and flavorings from their candies and several other manufacturers or food sellers are making changes based on pressure from their customers. Look for more shifts by the junk food sellers as we have I believe turned a corner on caring about what’s in our food and sharing those concerns with the powers that be.

So with the Pepsi products, only the diet Pepsi versions will have the aspartame removed, all other diet drinks they crank out like diet Mt Dew will still retain it. For Nestle, this won’t take all the GMO corn-based high fructose corn syrup out of their products, but it is a start. Chipotle will still be using beef and pork from animals fed GMO corn though they say they are working on it. Still easiest to avoid all the “stuff” by preparing real organic food at home.

In my book Nutritional Truths, I go over in detail the reasons why to avoid GMO’s, Aspartame and the ills of artificial colors and flavorings. I also cover dozens of other ingredients to avoid and soon enough the book will also be available on Kindle. Be kind to yourself & Be well!
