Red White & True

Our pending 4th of July celebration has me feeling grateful for our nation. America’s Amexit had many sacrificing much more than a brief dip in the stock market.
Hundreds of thousands have died since, in defending or representing America in war and ensuring that our freedom stays in place.
It is easy to take liberty for granted, when you have never had it taken from you.--Author unknown
For me coming up, 4th of July meant trips to the lake or pool along with picnics including watermelon wedges and spitting seeds.Fireworks and fire ants always in vast supply and part of the annual experience. Lighted punks initiated the send off of hundreds of bottle rockets and the tiny explosions of thousands of firecrackers. Roman candles today are my favorite as are the larger mortars that others buy to shoot off.

America with her imperfections is still the most amazing country to live in, and it has its fair share of incredible people. People of all races and colors have a better chance and opportunity to succeed today in America than anywhere else on our planet. Land of the free and home of the brave.
No matter how you spend the 4th of July enjoy yourself and our amazing country! Unless you live elsewhere, then enjoy that place too and visit us soon, unless you mean us harm, then kindly stay away and just send us a note filled with your thoughts instead.

Feel free to share and Be Well!

Talk about a large organ!

In addition to acting as an envelope keeping us all together, our skin acts as a regulator of our bodies temperature by dissipating heat through sweating and keeping us warm in the cold. Our skin proves to us every time we have a cut or scrape that it was made to heal.

With Summer now upon us, it is imperative that you are clear that whatever you are putting on your body is likely going into your body. From lotions, makeup, soaps, perfumes, and sunscreen. We will focus on sunscreen since too often folks are only focused on the SPF number and not how they are dosing their or their children’s bodies with chemicals you would never serve on a sandwich.

There are two different ways sunscreens are created, and one is with toxic chemicals and the other with minerals that too often include the toxic chemicals. Both act as a barrier but with chemicals like Oxybenzone that is linked to a myriad of health concerns it is amazing that people just trust manufacturers and slather anything sold on themselves and those they love.

The EWG tested over 1400 different sunscreens, and only 5% met their safety standards with over 40% potentially contributing to skin cancer. A search online for natural homemade sunscreens will produce many options. Ingesting organic carotenoid-rich foods like carrots, peaches, tomatoes, watermelon, leafy greens and red peppers will support the bodies efforts too.

One of the best ways to stay safer outside is to limit one’s sun exposure and to cover up with shade, wide-brimmed hats, and long-sleeved tops. With skin cancer rates always rising consider thinking twice before you reach for that mass-produced sunscreen and consider if it would go well on your sandwich.

Have an amazing Summer and may this weekend be a great one! Share as you may and Be Well!

Hemp. It does a body good!

This weeks blog is early since it is Hemp Week and if you don’t already know all about it, read on! The first drafts of America’s Declaration of Independence and Constitution were written upon it, Henry Ford built a car from it that was fueled by it, and Washington and Jefferson both grew it. Cultivated for over 10,000 years it was the very first American crop to exceed $1 billion dollars.

It can be made into over 25,000 different products including paper, plastics, textiles, paints, food, fuel, oils, rope, sails, etc. Hemp is one of our planet’s most amazing plants and June 6th through 12th is national hemp week!

Industrialized hemp is not cannabis (marijuana), and no amount of smoking industrialized hemp can get you “high”. Prior to 1900, almost all medicines were cannabis-based as it contains proven healing properties from its THC, CBD and others. Legalization of many forms of cannabis has spread across the US. Today’s pharmaceuticals are reported to kill on average one person every 19 minutes for properly prescribed and taken medication, as a side effect. There has never been a single case of death due to cannabis or hemp, except for the times hemp rope was used in hangings.

US 1914 $10 bill printed on hemp paper with image of hemp being harvested on the left.

US 1914 $10 bill printed on hemp paper with image of hemp being harvested on the left.

Government and corporate criminals stole hemp from the American people back in 1937 when they lumped it together with cannabis. Twenty years earlier the government had announced a program to focus on hemp cultivation rather than deforestation. However, folks with tree pulp processing patents, petroleum interests as well as massive tree-filled landowner/paper producers stood to lose a fortune from further embracing hemp. Corporations like Hearst and DuPont profited massively as a result of the Government making all-natural solutions illegal (see product list above) and allowing the patents of countless petrochemical based solutions (rayon, nylon, pharmaceuticals, etc.).

A single acre of hemp produces the same amount of fiber as four acres of trees. A hemp crop can be grown three times in a single year while trees take 10 to 15 years to mature. Hemp requires no pesticides, half the water it takes to grow cotton, and will grow in all fifty states. We have been importing it from Canada, and we look forward to buying it locally sooner rather than later. Hemp is now being grown in America once again as the people regain the right to make the most of a natural and effective resource. The time has come for such a blatant misuse of government power and corporate corruption to cease so that all people will benefit.
All parts of the hemp plant are used: the seed in shell is normally toasted; the center of the seeds or the hearts can be bought whole or in a powder form as protein and as an oil; the fibers of the plant can be made into paper, plastics, textiles, paints, oils, etc. The seeds contain all the essential amino and fatty acids that support optimal health. The seeds contain vitamins and minerals, Omega 3 & 6 Acids, in a perfect ratio of 1:3 to benefit our bodies and minds. Hemp also contains both Super Omegas Stearidonic Acid and Gamma Linolenic Acid, which allows the body easy conversion of all of its Omega 3 & 6 goodness.

Hemp also requires no pesticides since it grows so tall and close together weeds cannot grow and it can easily be grown in all fifty states as it was before our government was purchased by private industry.

If you investigate the facts further, you too will wonder how such a blatant series of lies have been told for so long to the American people. Based on results, hemp will make its way back as will cannabis, to be considered a norm in American society. I look forward to passing organic hemp fields growing as far as the eye can see. Knowing that it will create fuel, food, housing, and clothing. I go into further detail in my book Nutritional Truths. You can purchase hemp foods at healthful grocery stores or on Amazon. Please share this with those for whom you care. Till next week, Be Well!

On Love

Many moons ago I worked with a fellow named Bob Bell who was twice my age and would share various bits of information on life with me and one day while talking about relationships he wrote down the following poem for me. I found the original yesterday made a few adjustments and wanted to share the poem with you.

Made Over
She had seen him and she liked him; He was single- so was she;
She grew interested in him- such a case you often see.
He reciprocated promptly, and it gratified the maid-

In a thousand modest manners her delight the maid displayed.
He was certain that he pleased her, to the turning of a hair,
And was sure that e’en his failings seemed to her as virtues rare.
But within her heart the maiden softly murmured, day and night,
“With a little making-over he’d be exactly right.”

Week by week the two kept meeting; day by day their friendship grew;
Each was certain that the other had a loyal heart and true.
He was sure she was perfection, sure she thought the same of him,
and the trust he thought she carried kept the man in moral trim.

His belief in her perfections made him ask the maid to wed,
And she gave no hint of doubting in the tender “Yes” she said.
Yet this thought was interwoven with her new-found loves delight:
“With a little making over he would be exactly right.”

They were wed. She made him over. He’s another chap to-day;
But in lopping off his failings other things were cut away.
He has lost the faults she censured, but the scars are plain to see,
And she’d like to have him back again just like he used to be.

For she learned a costly lesson: That when God has made a man
He is founded, framed and finished on a pretty careful plan.
And this one-time maiden murmurs in her sorrow, day and night:
“If I hadn’t made him over he would be exactly right.”
Strickland W. Gillilan

This poem could certainly apply to the opposite gender, and you will find some truth in it. I learn things from many people along the way and am grateful. Reminds me of the adage “If you’re having a hard time being grateful for the things you have then try being grateful for the things you don’t have that you don’t want.” No matter, enjoy the poem, feel free to share, have a great weekend and Be Well!

Thunderbolts and Lightning

Before six am one morning this week, there was a tremendous crack that filled every inch of the house from lightning striking nearby. While it sounded like it was just outside the window, it turns out it was about five hundred feet away at my neighbor’s place. He texted me a picture of the tree later that morning and invited me over to look at it. While I had not seen a freshly stricken tree before what stood out first was its long strips of bark laying fifty feet away from the tree in many directions.

The tree wasn’t just singed; it had essentially exploded. From the point it was struck, on down, looks like a charge went off at its core. With one to five billion joules of energy, a lightning strike is more than enough to destroy the life of anything. Yes, it can reach out up to ten miles from the center of the storm so give yourself thirty minutes from the last sound of thunder to consider yourself safe from it.

Lightning Strike

We didn’t find anything burnt as I had expected and although the center was compromised, it remained standing. The tree is a post oak which is very common in this area and was certainly not the tallest nor the highest in the area, so why it, in particular, was hit is unknown.

While many of us enjoy the sound and sight of lightning; there are those who would do well not to have to bother with it, including many dogs. Ninety percent of the people struck by lightning live, though many do come away with some negative impact not as much as the 10 percent that dies from it. In America, about two dozen folks a year are propelled into eternity from lightning strikes.

While there is no safe place, if caught in the outdoors, the best course of action is to seek shelter in a permanent building or inside an automobile. While inside the vehicle avoid contact with the doors and inside buildings avoid windows, window frames, and incoming phone lines, etc.

Our canine companions often feel the buildup of static in their coats and may react negatively towards it in addition to the sounds that tend to accompany storms. There are various strategies to help them discharge it from lying against exposed metal pipes and radiators to methods using aluminum foil, just check online for more ideas.

Springtime is the right time for storms with lightning so keep your awareness up. Share as you wish, have a great weekend and Be Well!

A Grateful Spring

As the last half of May plays out I am reminded time and again of springtime growing up. From fresh-cut lawns and hay to flowers that bloom only in the Spring here in Texas. Heavy rainfall is normal in our area in the Fall and Spring and is almost always welcome.

Trees of Green

Trees of Green

All of the trees have taken on their summer wear (leaves) and could not be more lovely. The grasses have made their mark in all shades of green, emerald and lime colors providing the eyes with carpets of colors far exceeding in beauty, the brown grasses of winter.

Birds call out to known and unknown mates, and even the hummingbirds have made it back to the feeders. This spring so far around the house there have been deer, coyotes, snakes, rabbits, raccoons, turkeys, frogs, lizards, mice, squirrels and all kinds of birds including a first for me, a hummingbird nest.

All types of Hummingbirds drop by.

All types of Hummingbirds drop by.

Much like everything in life how we perceive anything makes all the difference in our experience of it. I refuse to consider the oncoming Summer temps, misquotes and grasshoppers. Today I choose to focus on the things I love about living where I do and hope you too are grateful.

We have contacted and thanked the winners of our giveaway and will be offering the first three people who share this blog or any of them on Facebook within the week, a copy of my audio book Nutritional Truths on Audible. Thanks for reading this and share as you may, enjoy your weekend and Be Well!

Life is Perception

From our earliest learning’s we begin to place filters between what we see and experience and how we perceive it. While one sees themselves as a victim, another who has had, similar experiences will see themselves as empowered and moving forward confidently as they have left the past. A lifetime of suffering may remain if one remains negatively tethered to the past.

While the story of the six blind men encountering an elephant is thousands of years old from India, the poem that made it popular across Europe and America was released in the mid 19th century by English author Godfrey Saxe.

The poem speaks to many ways we are locked into perceiving things we know little of. It can be tied to religion, education, cultural conditioning and how our short sidedness often does us no favors. May you enjoy the story/poem and find this serves you.

Blind Men and the Elephant
A Poem by John Godfrey Saxe

It was six men of Indostan,
To learning much inclined,
Who went to see the Elephant
(Though all of them were blind),
That each by observation
Might satisfy his mind.

The First approached the Elephant,
And happening to fall
Against his broad and sturdy side,
At once began to bawl:
“God bless me! but the Elephant
Is very like a wall!”

The Second, feeling of the tusk,
Cried, -“Ho! what have we here
So very round and smooth and sharp?
To me ’tis mighty clear,
This wonder of an Elephant
Is very like a spear!”

The Third approached the animal,
And happening to take
The squirming trunk within his hands,
Thus boldly up and spoke:
“I see,” -quote he- “the Elephant Is very like a snake!”

The Fourth reached out an eager hand,
And felt about the knee:
“What most this wondrous beast is like
Is mighty plain,” -quote he,-
“‘Tis clear enough the Elephant
Is very like a tree!”

The Fifth, who chanced to touch the ear,
Said- “E’en the blindest man
Can tell what this resembles most;
Deny the fact who can,
This marvel of an Elephant
Is very like a fan!”

The Sixth no sooner had begun
About the beast to grope,
Then, seizing on the swinging tail
That fell within his scope,
“I see,” -quote he,- “the Elephant
Is very like a rope!”

And so these men of Indostan
Disputed loud and long,
Each in his own opinion
Exceeding stiff and strong,
Though each was partly in the right,
And all were in the wrong!

So oft in theological wars,
The disputants, I ween,
Rail on in utter ignorance
Of what each other mean,
And prate about an Elephant
Not one of them has seen!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and feel free to share this and questions please ask. Be well!

Johnson & Johnson once again found guilty and ordered to pay $55 million.

For the second time this year Jonson & Johnson has lost a lawsuit for ovarian cancer linked to their talcum powder and were ordered to pay $55 million to the victim.

I wrote about this over two months ago and have included it once again below so you may know the truths about the dangers from using anything containing talc on yourself or someone you love.

Share this or any Nutritional Truths post on Facebook and like the Nutritional Truths Page, if you haven’t already, to be entered into the give-away for five audio versions of the book that will be drawn for May 8th!

If cancer is something, you wish for you and those around you to avoid you should know the following. Since the late nineteenth century, Johnson and Johnson has been selling talcum powder or what you may know as baby powder and as it turns out, it can be a killer.

This week the US state of Missouri has awarded seventy-two million dollars to the family of a woman whose death was tied directly to her use of their baby powder. Their mouthpiece claimed their products are safe and deny any issue. The issue lies in both their Baby Powder and Shower to Shower products.

As it turns out, talcum powder used on a woman’s genital area can migrate all the way into the ovaries eliciting an inflammatory response and subsequent cancer. Particles of talc have shown up in the cancerous tissues removed from ovaries. More than 20 epidemiologic studies support a link between talcum powder use in the genital area and ovarian cancer.

The issue with baby powder linked to cancer goes back to 1971 when the Henderson study showed talcum powder embedded deeply within cancer tissue. More studies were held in the eighties when a Harvard doctor Daniel Kramer MD found a 92% increased risk of ovarian cancer for women using talcum powder on their genital area. In 1982, J&J challenged him about the study and he asked them to remove talcum from their products, they refused.

The FDA was petitioned in 1994 by the Cancer Prevention Coalition to add a warning label to talcum products. The FDA responded by saying they did not have the resources to look into it and even if they did it is not a priority for them. Interesting to note that the same individual that wrote that letter went to work for the lobbying group that represents J&J. This type of behavior is common practice within government agencies including the FDA.

Even wackier is the fact that OSHA has required the mining companies to post a materials safety data sheet to each container of talc sent to J&J warning of the risk of ovarian cancer with its use. One steps further into the you-have-got-to-be-kidding-me section, and you’ll find that they are already using a possible replacement, cornstarch, in other products. However I would imagine it is laden with Glyphosate from it being GMO, so I would never recommend it.

I covered the dangers of talcum powder in Chapter five of my book Nutritional Truths, and this case is still ongoing. If you or anyone you know has suffered from ovarian cancer and has been a user of J&J baby powder they may wish to reach out to the folks at the law firm of Beasley Allen. Avoid talc, enjoy your weekend and share as you may.

Happy Anniversary Giveaway!

April 25th marks the one year anniversary of the publication of my first book Nutritional Truths. This past year has proven a great deal of insight into the self-publishing world and writing a blog over this past year has been educational as well.

There will be five copies of the audio version of Nutritional Truths given away, and all you need to do to enter is make sure you like Nutritional Truths on Facebook and share this on your wall before May 8th. Very simple with winners being notified the end next week. Good luck! You may also follow my blog by sharing your email at to be entered.

I wrote the book having spent so many years in the dark about nutrition, foods, disease and their actual cures. Nutritional Truths allows me to share all the information that everyone should know in one concise book allowing the readers to investigate further the truths that matter most to them.

Have you ever thought of writing a book and publishing it? When you finally do you will find it either harder or easier than you think. It’s one of those unknowns until it is complete and ready for print at which point is editing and re-editing again and again happens. When this happens, the perfectionist may never complete the project since chasing one’s tail comes easy at this stage and making the book available to the public has to be more important than perfection.

Once Nutritional Truths was published, I was under the illusion that the heavy lifting was over, but it had only just begun. Marketing, promoting and selling one’s book takes more effort than I would have guessed. There are still avenues I have begun to explore in order to promote it further and am always open to your ideas.

Enjoy your weekend, enter this contest and share this with those you love. Good luck and Be Well!

Cultural Conditioning for Profits

As we grow up, we begin to believe all that we are taught as the way things are and of course that they are all the facts we need to know, and they, of course, are the right way to see things. The trouble is that it is our reality that often precludes any real investigation into facts that may support other ways of seeing things.

Take for example dairy milk. Kids are taught that milk is required for strong bones and to avoid osteoporosis etc. and this is in no way the truth. This is supported by the lies perpetuated by the government’s food pyramid that came out in the 1970’s that was created originally in Sweden.

We no more need dairy in our diets than an extra hole in the head. From commercials to milk cartons and a full-on brainwashing takes places in Americas schools within the cafeterias to promote further this outdated unhealthy scam that is just bovine growth juice. They tout it as everything it is not and yes plants have plenty of calcium.

Special interest groups became involved in creating Americas food pyramid, and it worked to push further their products and increase sales. In 1992, dairy ended up with its section on Americas food pyramid since the dairy council paid for it. The wheat growers were able to have them suggest 6-11 servings a day of their needless grains. This is the best the USDA could do, and it is no wonder why we doubt the legitimacy of anything our government or its agencies have to say.

The same thing goes for consuming animal flesh or trusting allopathic doctors, etc. While I grew up attending a Methodist church and eating burgers, some other kid born elsewhere was going to a Temple and raised as a vegetarian. His world was normal to him and mine to me, all at the same time.

To live in the question is a good thing and if answers are sought, they shall be found. Once we get over having to have our way of thinking be the only way and the right way, we open ourselves to more truths. There are beliefs I have held my entire life that disappeared once I learned other truths and some that will likely never change. And I work to remain open to learning from any source.

Defined as the social process in which authority figures, peers, and the media define our cultural values, beliefs, ethical system, and ultimately how we see ourselves. Cultural conditioning also has folks believe that solutions for cancer don’t exist. However they do and in various non-toxic forms. I cover many of them in my book Nutritional Truths.

Next week is the one year anniversary of publishing Nutritional Truths, and we will be giving away a few copies of the audio version through Audible. It will all be explained next week thanks for reading this and enjoy your weekend. Share as you wish and Be Well!
