Time Tested Turmeric

The intention in writing Nutritional Truths was to place all the things I have learned over the past few years into a single source for folks to learn the truths about natural wellness. As time goes by I, learn more about various natural solutions and feel the need to share them with you and the powers of Turmeric is something you deserve to know. Turmeric is not just for great curries anymore; it is a powerhouse herb that loves you back.

Used before history began turmeric has been an effective solution for reducing arthritis and inflammation and can reduce pain and fever much like Tylenol or Ibuprofen and without possible negative side effects. It improves digestion and intestinal flora, cleanses and strengthens the gallbladder and liver, battles cancer and may lessen Alzheimer’s symptoms.

It is also used to combat swimmers ear or ear infections, sprains, burns, cuts, and insect bites as well as reducing coughs and asthma. Turmeric outperformed Prozac at treating depression in study after study without any of the potential negative side effects. Take a look online to find the studies and to learn more.

It is also great for our fur babies and all other animals and is primarily utilized in the equestrian arena. For more information on using it for supporting healing in critters investigate DVM Doug English (BVSc) as he is the unofficial leader in the effective use of turmeric in animals.

I learned about the amazing powers of turmeric through Golden Paste which is simply a mix of Turmeric, Coconut Oil, Black peppercorns, and water. The peppercorn contains piperine which makes the curcumin in turmeric more bio-available as it slows the liver from removing the curcumin so quickly from the blood.

To make the golden paste all, you need a half of cup of organic turmeric as regular unregulated turmeric can have high lead levels, a third of a cup of unrefined coconut oil, a cup of clean water and two to three teaspoons of freshly ground peppercorns. Bring the turmeric and water to a boil then down to a simmer 9 minutes until it is a thick paste. Once it cools down a bit add the oil and ground peppercorns stirring well. Some folks freeze it in flexible silicone pill sheets for easy doses or add it to most any meal during the day. It will keep in the fridge up to two weeks or in the freezer for longer periods of time.

Hope this sheds light on something you have perhaps overlooked and hope you investigate it further. May your weekend be a great one, share as you care to and be Well!

Do You Know Jack?

What began as a curiosity after trying bbq jackfruit at a place on the square in Denton has turned into a realization that this IS the next big thing in food. I spoke on it briefly in my last blog as it makes an amazing meat replacement.

The jackfruit tree begins to produce fruit after four years and will produce it for up to 100 years. An average tree grows up to forty feet tall and will produce four to eight thousand pounds of fruit per year. The fruit will vary in weight from twenty to eighty pounds each and sometimes exceed two hundred pounds.
www-nutritionaltruths-com-32

Low in calories and high in fiber Jackfruit is rich in vitamins C, Riboflavin, A, B6, and others. Its mineral content is robust as well high in Manganese, Magnesium, Copper, Potassium with smaller amounts of Calcium, Iron, Zinc, Phosphorus, and Selenium.

I have previously only purchased it in a can from the Asian market. Yesterday I went hunting for a fresh one and was rewarded with one just under twenty pounds. The coloring was as I learned correct for a ripe one. However, it was firmer than expected and inside it was much dryer also, so possibly not quite as ripe as I thought.

Inside the fruit is fiber and seed filled pods

If you ever feel the need to strengthen your hands buy one like I did. It took a bit longer than anticipated just to make it halfway through the fruit; I will get the other half later. The object is to separate the pods from the fibrous parts and then cull the seed from each pod.
www-nutritionaltruths-com-33

The seeds are very nutritious and edible too. I will be boiling mine tomorrow for twenty minutes and then eaten as a cross between a potato and chestnut. Once out of the water and slightly cooled peel the skin that remains, if any, that protected it while in its pod. Season and nom.

Oh and before you start this adventure know that this fruit secretes a natural latex so oil your knife and hands to ease on cleanup. My large knife suffered a coating of it, and I ran hot water over it to soften the latex and used dry paper towels to remove it.

www-nutritionaltruths-com-35 In addition to what you see in the pic, I added diced artichokes and salt and pepper. Also only used one jalapeno, one-third of the onion, half the cilantro and four tablespoons of the rice vinegar. Again there are more recipes online for jackfruit ceviche and most anything else with jackfruit than you can imagine.

I Made a ceviche for dinner tonight and will top it with avocado before serving. Tomorrow night it is pulled jackfruit BBQ style and the rest I may freeze for later. There are hundreds of recipes online, and if you’re looking for a no processed meat substitute that is full of fiber and nutrition this would be a great one!

Hope you will give jackfruit a chance one day as it can be bought in cans or premade BBQ, carnitas, etc. in the refrigerated section of your healthful grocery store.

Cancer Solutions Exist

As October is cancer awareness month another year rolls by but the industry continues to perpetuate the untruths that say that non-toxic solutions for cancer do not exist and everyone’s only hope is to expose themselves to surgery, radiation, and/or chemotherapy. Whatever path one chooses is their business just know the following answers exist and be aware of the fear tactics.

As I mentioned two weeks ago, surgery, chemo, and radiation only temporarily suppress cancer; it will almost always return often more aggressive because the body never healed.

If you find it difficult or impossible to believe that non-toxic solutions already exist, then they have done their job well. Consider investigating the solutions listed and learn more for yourself and those you love.

No one will ever guarantee that a single solution will work every time but tens of thousands have found healing through these various means. The toughest part sometimes is to recall what we already know, and that is that the human body was made to heal itself, we just have to support it in accomplishing that.

Dr. Thomas Lodi, a true cancer specialist, speaks to the fact that our first step once diagnosed or sooner is to stop making cancer and work from there. An acidic diet filled with toxins in and on “food and drink” as well as being void of nutrition supports to create cancer along with exposure to external toxins.

External toxins may include nicotine intake, air fresheners, candles/incense, sunscreen, lotions/ potions, shampoo, hairspray, soap, fluoride, tattoo ink, antiperspirant/deodorant, perfumes/cologne, makeup, fabric softeners, amalgam fillings, root canals, various dust, and household cleaners.

Biopsies may expose the entire body to the cancerous cells via the bloodstream. The same concerns apply to mammograms which may burst tumors and also exposes the breasts to cell-destroying radiation. Thermography may now be an acceptable form of prevention without damaging anything but the old paradigm.

The list here does not represent every solution or protocol that has been shown to support healing. Question what you think you know and you have the right to know the truth. Enjoy your weekend, share as you may and Be Well!

All wet

When it comes to the heat of summer, the use and availability of water can be of concern. If you have a lawn, you’re watering it, and if you’re a farmer, you’re well aware how little will grow without it. In our area as in many this mid summer, there has been no shortage of it. When it comes to what we eat water plays a big role there as well. Even though we likely never consider it.

When it comes to water conservation, we rarely think of how our food choices impact water use. For every gallon of cow’s milk we drink it takes 1000 gallons of water to produce it. For every pound of hamburger meat or boneless steak we consume it takes nearly 1900 gallons of water. For chicken fans, it takes 520 gallons of water to produce a single pound of boneless chicken.

On the other side of the food isle are vegetables and fruit with water requirements a bit lower. A pound of broccoli takes 34 gallons of water to produce; tomatoes take 26 gallons, potatoes take 34 gallons while citrus takes 67 gallons of water. Fruit and vegetables that are grown hydroponically take much less.

When you’re eating something you enjoy this weekend be aware of all the water it takes to produce it. Consider investigating online for the water it takes grow your favorite foods and become aware of your H two O footprint at each meal. No matter what you choose to consume may it be enjoyable and nourish you. Feel free to share this and Be well!

Got Hemp?

The first drafts of America’s Declaration of Independence and Constitution were written upon it, Henry Ford built a car from it that was fueled by it, and Washington and Jefferson both grew it. Cultivated for over 10,000 years it was the very first American crop to exceed $1 billion dollars. It made over 25,000 different products including paper, plastics, textiles, paints, oils, food, rope, etc. I am speaking today of hemp, as it is one of our planet’s most amazing plants & this is national hemp week!
HEMP Industrialized hemp is not cannabis (marijuana), and no amount of smoking industrialized hemp can get you high. Prior to 1900, almost all medicines were cannabis-based as it contains proven healing properties. Legalization of many forms of cannabis has spread across the US. Today’s pharmaceuticals are reported to kill an average of one person every 19 minutes. There has never been a single case of death due to cannabis or hemp, except for the times hemp rope was used in hangings.

Government and corporate criminals stole hemp from the American people back in 1937 when they lumped it together with cannabis. Twenty years earlier the government had announced a program to focus on hemp cultivation rather than deforestation. However, folks with tree pulp processing patents, petroleum interests as well as massive tree-filled landowner/paper producers stood to lose a fortune from further embracing hemp. Corporations like Hearst and DuPont profited massively as a result of the Government making all-natural solutions illegal (see product list above) and allowing the patents of countless petrochemical based solutions (rayon, nylon, pharmaceuticals, etc.).

A single acre of hemp produces the same amount of fiber as four acres of trees. A hemp crop can be grown three times in a single year while trees take 10 to 15 years to mature. Hemp requires no pesticides, half the water it takes to grow cotton, and will grow in all fifty states. We have been importing it from Canada, and we look forward to buying it locally sooner rather than later. Hemp is now being grown in America once again as the people regain the right to make the most of a natural and effective resource. The time has come for such a blatant misuse of government power and corporate corruption to cease so that all people will benefit.

All parts of the hemp plant are used: the seed in shell is normally toasted; the center of the seeds or the hearts can be bought whole or in a powder form as protein and as an oil; the fibers of the plant can be made into paper, plastics, textiles, paints, oils, etc. The seeds contain all the essential amino and fatty acids that support optimal health. The seeds contain vitamins and minerals, Omega 3 & 6 Acids, in a perfect ratio of 1:3 to benefit our bodies and minds. Hemp also contains both Super Omegas Stearidonic Acid and Gamma Linolenic Acid, which allows the body easy conversion of all of its Omega 3 & 6 goodness.

If you investigate the facts further, you too will wonder how such a blatant series of lies have been told for so long to the American people. Based on results, hemp will make its way back as will cannabis, to be considered a norm in American society. I look forward to passing organic hemp fields growing as far as the eye can see. Knowing that it will create fuel, food, housing, and clothing. I go into further detail in my book. You can purchase hemp foods at healthful grocery stores or on Amazon. Please share with those for whom you care. Till next week, Be Well!

Diseases are Mostly an Option

For the first 30 plus years of my life Pluto was a planet and then one day in 2006 it was not. We grow up with certain mindsets about foods that sometimes serve us and other times do not. It depends on what you learned and picked up on growing up. For some of us fast food was the norm and for others fresh veggies filling the dinner plate was. One will support illness and the other health.

More often than not our mindset is that if someone upstream of us biologically had a disease we are predisposed to it as well. That is a lie, with few exceptions. When it comes to almost all heart disease, diabetes or cancers the fate of our wellness lies squarely on us and our behaviors. The actions include what and how much we eat and drink, how we think, exposure to toxins, and how we move.

We tend to model our parents behaviors around all these things much as we do our faith and how we handle relationships, careers, etc. So the “It’s in our genes” mentality, for the most part, is simply not true.

Great news to many who are living with the idea that moms or grandmas disease awaits them. Now if they eat, drink, think, expose themselves to toxins, and move as they did, it very well might, but they have the choice to shift those habits and outcomes.

Nutritional Truths covers these facts and much more. You are most likely not a victim of genetic fate, you just need to be clear on the facts that will serve you well. If you’re not a fan of paperbacks the book is now available on Kindle. Till next week-Be well!

Most people don't really want the truth.
